Cast Your Cares

1 Peter 5: 7 says ‘Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.’

It’s such a small verse but a significant one that I come back to again and again. Knowing that God cares for me plays a huge part in being able to give all my anxiety to Him.

Here is an acronym for the word ‘Cares’ that might give you the keys to help you through a difficult time.

C – Cry Out God wants to hear from us no matter how raw our pain might be. The Psalms are full of people crying out to God lamenting. ‘Why do you forsake me?’ Sometimes we need to pour out our hearts to God and allow Him to gently draw us close to him – Psalm 22 is a good one to read.

A – Ask God wants us to bring our requests to Him. He might not answer in the way you are expecting but He will always answer!

R – Remember what He has already done for us. Looking back over answered prayers and changed situations and the God-incidences that have taken place in my life keeps me looking to God. I find it so helpful to write down answered prayers big and small (or I’m in danger of forgetting!)

E – Enlarge God over your circumstances. Reminding myself by reading scripture that God is Almighty – the creator of the heavens and the earth, and He is mindful of me.

Romans 8: 31-32 ‘If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?’

S – Sing through your pain. I find that worshipping in spite of my circumstances can be a very powerful thing.

I’m really enjoying this song ‘Cast your cares on His shoulders’ by Guvna B at the moment. Perhaps listen to it and allow the Holy Spirit to minister to you.
