Transforming lives in the slums of Delhi

St Stephen’s partners with ASHA, a local Christian charity working to transform lives in over 45 slums in Delhi. Meaning ‘hope’ in Hindi, Asha has been helping the slum dwellers of Delhi since 1988, when Dr Kiran Martin started treating cholera victims who were too poor or culturally constrained to seek help elsewhere.

We have sent teams annually to Delhi since 2007 to work on Asha projects. Asha has brought health, education and dignity to the lives of more than 300,000 slum dwellers. To find out more contact Amanda Clegg or click here to visit Asha’s website.

St Stephen’s also partners with individuals in Eastern Europe, Central Asia and the Middle East who live and work in challenging and vulnerable communities to help share the love of God through education, credit unions, work with young people and economic programmes.
