God Never Stops

Normally a new Autumn term brings new classrooms, new schoolbooks, new uniforms and lots of new stationery. However, for most of us, September doesn’t feel totally back to normal as it once was.

In a time, which is still so uncertain and unknown it can easily feel like, despite the new term, the road from September is still an uphill one. But the good news is that God provides all the help we could ever need for this next season!

I know I don’t have to do this alone and that God, the creator of all, will not let me slip. In my life group recently we shared thoughts and reflections from Psalm 121. Our help comes from a God who never stops watching over us, not even for a moment.

I particularly found it helpful rewriting this Psalm out in my journal and including a situation with which I would value God’s help. The process of including my situation within the Psalm allowed me to declare “My help comes from the Maker of heaven and earth.” What an encouragement as we enter this new season!

Psalm 121

1 “I lift up my eyes to the mountains—where does my help come from? 2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. 3 He will not let your foot slip— he who watches over you will not slumber; 4 indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.5 The Lord watches over you—the Lord is your shade at your right hand; 6 the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night.7 The Lord will keep you from all harm- he will watch over your life; 8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going  both now and forevermore.
