Creating Windows

Over the next few weeks there will be a series of blogs all about parenting for faith.

This week is about creating windows and you might be thinking what on earth does that mean but this will all be explained through this blog. We will include some helpful tips from Parenting for Faith and other ways of trying this at home.

Just for a moment I want you to think, how do you connect with God daily?

You might spend some time reading your bible, praying, listening to worship music.

For each of you this will be different but the title creating windows is basically about creating opportunities for your children to see you connect with God.

Children watch and soak up all that is going on around them and this is the same in the way they watch you connect with God. Maybe you spend time with God when no one else is around and the is nothing wrong with that but why not create opportunities for your children to see this.

You could simply just begin by praying together at the start of the day or before bed.

Tell your children your favourite bible verse and why it’s your favourite.

Play your favourite worship song and worship along to it.

One thing I love seeing in church is when a parent is raising their hand in worship and they are holding their child and the child mirrors the parent. Obviously, there is no pressure to do this, but this is an example of a child watching their parent and mirrors what they are doing.

Don’t worry!

There’s no pressure to immediately create glimpses into every area of your life with God – as you get used to the idea, you’ll begin to spot more opportunities.

Just start with where you are at.

Love

Lauren
